How Did This World Get So Messed Up?

Common Question: How did this world we live in get into the awful condition it is presently in? Most of us have had this question at some point in our lives. The answer to this question is contained in the Bible.

The current condition of this world is not what God ever intended. Disease, suffering, famines, death, pollution, suicide, murder, lies, physical and mental abuse, alcoholism, drug addictions, etc. are all a result of sin (Heb.2:14; 2Ti.2:26; Joh.8:44). God did not originate evil or sin but an angel, later known as Lucifer, Satan, the Devil, etc., was the one who originated evil or sin (1Jo.3:8). He did this by perverting his holy spirit (Job 33:27). He was the first angel God created (Isa.14:12; Eze.28:14). He had attained the fullness of God's knowledge. Notice in Genesis 2:9 he is called "The Tree of Knowledge of good and evil," and was "in the midst of the garden" or in the deepest depths of God. He was lifted up with pride (1Ti.3:6; Eze.28:2) and took to himself the glory, or credit, that was only due to God. This was the origin of sin. After this, he was given the opportunity to repent. He chose not to repent and as a result many other sins followed. He taught or passed on this sin to some of the other angels. The ones that listened to and accepted this sin into their minds became evil angels (2Pt.2:4; Jude:6; Rev.12:7,9). Now there were two groups of angels.

1. The holy angels (angels who didn't accept sin into their minds).
2. The evil angels (angels who did accept sin into their minds).

Because the willful choice was made to sin and not repent, Satan and all the other evil angels were cut off from God (Eze.31:15). God is the source of all life (Gen.2:9; 1Ti.6:16). Now the evil angels were desperate to find a resource for life.

The best resource they could find was humankind whom God had created and given life to upon the earth (Gen.2:7). How would they actually get life from humankind? First, by causing spiritual death to the soul (Eze.18:4), and then by causing physical death to the body. They did this by planting their evil thoughts into people's minds. This is what Satan did to Eve, the first human being to sin. He spoke words/thoughts to her mind. She believed and accepted the words/thoughts into her mind. She spoke the same words/thoughts to Adam's mind (Gen.3:17). He believed or accepted the words/thoughts into his mind. This was now the beginning of sin upon the earth. From this point on, sin grew and multiplied within people's minds to the point that "God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually" (Gen.6:5). From one generation to the next sin (evil thoughts: Pro.24:9) was passed on.

As a result of sin, people's minds are in degression (2Co.11:3), and also the physical earth (Gen.3:17, 18). In Gen.3:17 and 18 we see that after Adam and Eve sinned God cursed the ground which was a reflection of the condition of their minds. This meant that the holy angels would refrain from depositing to the earth the things it needed to make it a completed work. Degression had set in due to personal choices to sin. We see the result today in depleted soil, pollution, atmospheric imbalances, drought, volcanoes, earthquakes, thorns, disease, deformities, infections, cancers, etc.

The cause of all suffering, famines, death, suicide, physical and mental abuse, alcoholism, drug addictions, hatred, envy, murder, strife, lies, greed, fear, etc. can be traced back to the thoughts in people's minds. The source of these thoughts is evil angels (Joh.8:44; Heb.2:14; 2Ti.2:26). These thoughts are not good, pure, and holy, but they are evil. In the Bible they are called evil thoughts, unclean spirits, evil spirits, devils, etc. This is why God repeatedly tells us through the scriptures that evil thoughts are working in people's minds.

Notice the following scriptures:

Gen.6:5 "And God saw that ... every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."

Psa.94:11 "The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vain."

Psa.119:113 "I hate vain thoughts."

Pro.24:9 "The thought of foolishness is sin..."

Pro.30:32 "...if thou has thought evil..."

Isa.55:7 "Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts."

Isa.59:7 "...their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity..."

Jer.4:14 "...How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?"

Eze.38:10 "At the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought."

Amo.4:13 "...declareth unto man what is his thought..."

Mat.15:19 "...out of the heart proceed evil thoughts..."

Act.8:20 "...thou has thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money."

Act.8:22 "Repent therefore...and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee."

2Co.10:5 "...bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ."

Heb.4:12 "...word of God...is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

Jam.2:4 "...are become judges of evil thoughts."

The earth did not become so messed up and polluted overnight. It was through a process of time that the earth degressed and became polluted. This is also true of the condition of the minds of people on this earth. People's minds did not become polluted with evil thoughts overnight. It was over a period of years that each of us have accumulated all the thoughts we now have in our minds. There is no magic button to push, or magic pill to take, etc. that will rid us of all our problems. All our problems stem from evil thoughts. There is no one time experience that will remove all sin from our lives. There is, however, a process by which we can remove all sin from our lives. It will require a process of time for each of us to learn to discern and make choices to rid our minds of evil thoughts.

The spreading and multiplication of evil upon the earth would continue until God could do what was necessary to make available to humankind a way to discern (Heb.4:12 and 1Co.12:10) and get rid of evil thoughts. This process of discerning and eradicating evil thoughts from people's minds was available through the ministry of Jesus and early church Christians (Mat.10:1).

Once again there is a ministry that can teach people how to discern and get rid of evil thoughts. Each person who chooses to be taught how to discern and get rid of all evil thoughts will be a portion of the earth's population that gets cleaned up. Eventually, the whole earth will be populated with people who (by choice) have no evil thoughts. This will fulfil the prophecy in Psa.10:18 "...the man of the earth may no more oppress." As a result, all evil angels (the source of all evil) will be judged out of existence (1Co.6:3; 2Pt.2:4; Jud.6; Rev.12:7, 8) As a result, the physical earth will not continue to be polluted. God will eventually get the earth restored to the condition he intended from the beginning.

Rev.21:4 "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there by any more pain: for the former things are passed away."

How did this world get so messed up?

1. An angel (Lucifer) sinned. (Isa.14:12; Eze.28:14,15; Joh.8:44; 1Jo.3:8)
2. Other angels sinned. (2Pt.2:4; Jud:6; Rev.12:7, 9)
3. Mankind sinned by taking in thoughts from evil angels. (Gen.3:6,11; 2Co.11:3)
4. Holy angels could no longer deposit to the earth. (Gen.3:17,18)

How is this ever going to change? By God presenting us with choices:

1. To be absolutely honest and strictly obedient to God. (Luk.8:15; 2Co.10:5; 1Pt.1:22)
2. To be taught how to discern good from evil. (Psa.25:9; Eze.44:23; Heb.5:14; Heb.4:12)
3. To cast out all sin (evil thoughts) from our minds. (Mat.9:6; 10:l; Luk.10:19; 1Jo.1:7-9; Eph.4:22-24)
4. To be taught God's words. (Jam.1:21; Joh.6:45; Heb.8:10; 2Co.3:3)
5. To honor God and keep his commandments. (Ecc.12:13; 1Jo.5:3; Mat.4:10; 22:37)
